Emily Hurd will be my guest this Sunday (6/27)! She'll be talking about her new release, Daytime Fireflies, and singin' a few tunes as well! This will be Emily's third appearance at WSPN!!

Red Molly Changes ....

I just got a nice note from Carolann Solebello announcing her impending departure from Red Molly. I'll be sad to see her go. Red Molly was so tight and right on the mark at their recent performance at the Crandall Library in Glens Falls, that I thought they could not be better. Their last gig together will be at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, where Red Molly was born in 2004.

Molly Venter will join the group in Carolann's place.

Best wishes to Carolann as she pursues a solo career. She already has a great solo cd out entitled, Glass of Desire, due to be reviewed in the summer issue of Sing Out.

Christine Lavin's "Mem-Wha!"

I was so pleased to receive a promo copy of Christine Lavin's new book, Cold Pizza for Breakfast: A Mem-Wha?!! While I've only gotten through 1/2 the book (slow reader and was trying to finish the book I was already into).....my folkie friend, Mike Regenstreif, has written a wonderful review on his blog (Mike's blog). There are many references to Christine's time in Saratoga and with Lena at the Caffe....(Mike also add his memories in the review.). But most of all, it's a wonderfully honest look at Christine's personal and professional life.

I'm eager to finish this read (it'll happen this week!). I love all that Christine does...she's funny, poignant, hopeful, and, most of all, a wonderful friend to those in the folk world. Pick up a copy this summer....you won't have a better read!!

I won't be doing my show on Sunday, June 6th. My pal, Mark Hodge, will take over the controls and do a great job providing some wonderful Australian folk/rock music. I'll be back on the air June 12th.

The Felice Brothers open for Dave Matthews on Saturday night (6/5) at SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center).....If it wasn't for the other 20,000 people who will be there that night, I'd be in the front row for the Felice Brothers....I've grown accustomed to smaller, less crowded venues.....
